A: Hi Courtney,
The 5’8 Board has as weight limit of 180 lbs. While that particular board would be good for his weight, I think his height would be the main concern. I would recommend our 6’2’’ board or our 7’ board.
As far as the stringers go, I think for foam boards it is important to have stringers because it strengthens the board.
Some surfboards have no stringers but those are usually the fiberglass boards because their materials and the construction of the board add stiffness so the stringers are not needed. Let me know if you have any other questions! I am happy to help!

Hi Joanie, even as your kids' sizes, we do not recommend using surfboards as stand up paddle boards, since that is not their intended use. I would recommend looking at the California Board Company 9' Soft Stand Up Paddleboard Package
, if you are looking for an affordable stand up paddle board for your kids.

A: Hi, Melissa. The board is between 2.5 and 3 inches thick. Any listing that indicated the board was 5.5 inches thick was likely a typo. Please let us know if we can help you with anything else. Thanks.

A: Hi, Jj. The CBC soft boards do not usually require wax since the deck is a laminated, grippy surface unlike a slick surfboard deck. Please let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Hi, Michelle. In terms of value and overall weight, the 5'8" Fish is a nice place to start. Another option to consider is the Liquid Shredder Black Ball Tri-Fin Kids Element Series 5 ft
designed with kids in mind; it has a weight limit up to 80 lbs, so it leaves some growing room. I might also suggest the Kids Element Series 4'2" Dual Aluminum Stringers Patented Peruvian Soft Surfboard
, although the weight limit on this board is only 50 lbs. Please let us know if we can help you with anything else. Thanks!
